AD Johnson resigns, named commisioner of MIAA

Texas A&M University-Commerce athletic director Jim Johnson has resigned his position to become commissioner of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

Johnson has been the athletic director at Texas A&M University-Commerce for the past two years. The MIAA is a 10-member conference of NCAA Division II institutions in Missouri and Kansas. Johnson will become only the third full-time commissioner of the conference.

“He has been a tremendous asset to the university, and he has done many good things during his brief tenure here. As a result, we have a strong foundation on which to build,” said A&M-Commerce President Keith McFarland in a statement.
