Bachelor’s degree not a walk in the park for students

Most students can relate to the stress that develops at the end of each semester in regard to registering for the upcoming one. Not only do we have to find the time to take care of registration, but we also have to make sure we are taking the classes needed to graduate on time.

This doesn’t sound so bad at first, but the trouble comes when certain classes are only offered during specific semesters. This really makes the process more complicated and taxing for students.

For me, the difficulty comes when the classes offered only during a certain time, in a certain semester, begin to conflict with other classes only offered during the same time, in the same semester.

Obtaining a bachelor’s degree is becoming more and more difficult to accomplish within the usual four years. If students do not carefully plan out each semester beginning their freshman year, they may run into this same situation. Another setback could arise when students transfer from other universities, or perhaps a junior college, and classes begin to conflict.

With that said, everyone knows attending college costs money. Not only can this problem postpone the careers of many students, but it can also dip deeper into their pocketbooks. With each extra semester of classes comes more tuition due. Speaking as a college student, extra money is not always plentiful.

The source of this problem seems to come from the lack of staff or professors at this university. With some departments having scarce teaching staff, the classes offered are in return limited.

Conceivably this problem comes for a lack of funding or maybe just a shortage of teachers. Either way, it would be extremely helpful to the students of this university if the administration would look into this problem and consider ways to correct it, or at least begin the process.

The intention here is not to play the “blame game,” but to raise awareness of this particular situation. I can imagine the gratitude of students across campus would be abundant in regards to a change.
