Good-bye A&M-Commerce, you’ll be missed

Since I began writing for this publication two years ago, I have learned many things, which is only appropriate since a university is an educational setting.

However, perhaps the most important thing that I have learned is the power of the written word.

As a journalism major, I have learned important things that have been taught by an incredible faculty. My passion for writing and the power of words have been reinforced.

I have been fortunate in my academic career to be part of a family.

The East Texan staff has taught me many things, such as which pizza place is open at midnight in Commerce on a Tuesday night. But in the end it all comes back to the writing.

As journalists, we are to report the unbiased news to the best of our ability.

This reporting makes an impact on people, no matter who they are. In times of joy, chaos, sorrow or crisis, writing makes an impact.

To those who I have had the pleasure of working with, thank you and you will be missed. You have made my experience at A&M-Commerce a joy and I am overjoyed to call you family.

To the faculty that I have had the honor to be educated by, I thank you. Teaching is one of the greatest pursuits in life and I envy you.

To the university administration, keep up the good work. A&M-Commerce has the potential to one day be phenomenal and legendary. We just have to get it there.

To my staff, I am blessed because of you and you will all be missed tremendously.
