Boys beat up Giants, future looks bright

The Dallas Cowboys were victorious in their game on Sunday at Giants Stadium, when they beat the New York, 31-20.

Tony Romo had 247 yards passing and four touchdown passes in the victory, while Terrell Owens had six catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

The Dallas defense had a good game as they sacked Eli Manning, the Giants quarterback, five times and intercepted two of his passes.

Not a single Giants running back was able to rush for more than 100 yards against the Cowboys, and the Cowboys core of running backs faced the same scenario against the Giants.

Luckily for the Cowboys, they didn’t have to worry about the lack of rushing yards in the game.

With Romo’s 20 complete passes and Owens six catches, plus Tony Curtis and Patrick Crayton each catching a touchdown pass, Dallas now leads the New York Giants by two games and the Washington Redskins by three in the NFC Eastern Division. Philadelphia’s Eagles are four games behind the Cowboys and a non-factor in the division.

The Cowboys host the Washington Redskins on Sunday at 3:15 p.m. at Texas Stadium. With the victory over the Giants, the Cowboys are tied with the Green Bay Packers for the best record in the NFC with an 8-1 record.

Only the New England Patriots have a better record than the Cowboys. If the Cowboys don’t win the NFC East this year and gain some playoff games at Texas Stadium, they will have no one to blame but themselves.

Dallas has won eight consecutive road games, and is 8-1 for the eighth time in their team history. If the Cowboys defeat the Redskins Sunday, like they will be favored to do, and should do, they can all but get ready to celebrate an NFC East Division title.

The New York Jets come to Texas Stadium on Thanksgiving Day for a 3:15 p.m. kickoff. The Cowboys should win the Jets game by any amount they chose.

If the Cowboys win their next two games against the Redskins and Jets, they will be 10-1 when the Green Bay Packers come to town, in what might very well be the game of the year in the NFC.

Before we get carried away, this Cowboys team will still have to prove they can win in the playoffs. If they don’t win in the playoffs, then lots of Dallas fans will be very disappointed. Unless they have some major injuries or totally collapse, this Dallas team could very well end up in the Super Bowl.

Whether they can win the Super Bowl or not, depends on whether the opponent is the Patriots. The Cowboys didn’t fare too well against the Patriots last time, but I personally feel the Cowboys are capable of beating the Patriots on a given day.

If the Cowboys can actually beat the Patriots or not, no one knows, but I sure hope they get the chance to try. This Cowboy team will not collapse in December like they have done recently.
