KETR is pushing the static out of the way and tuning into their listeners for their advice. KETR, the local radio station for Texas A&M University-Commerce, has recently sent out a survey via e-mail, to figure out what was best for them and when.
According to KETR General Manager Bill Oliver, KETR wants to promote A&M University-Commerce, generate local programming in a 50-mile area around Commerce, and train student broadcasters.
Oliver said 690 participants responded to the survey 65.7 percent of them were female and the remaining 34.3 percent were male. The majority of the participants were between the ages of 18-35 and people who had completed their associate’s or bachelor’s degrees.
Chris Myers, assistant professor of Marketing and Management at A&M University-Commerce, to produce the survey. Myers has two classes, which make up seven groups controlling the survey.
“The radio station is mainly looking for three things, what programs are affective, how should they be offered, and when.” said Myers.
The students made up the survey, which KETR approved, and read the results. Myers also said this survey is compared to Arbitron – which is considered a poor method – and others in Dallas.
According to the study, most of the participants in this survey were not familiar at all with the station.
