Kenneth R. Porter, known as “Lil Shine” was born to the streets of Dallas and is a student at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Porter, who started rapping as a child continued his pursuit for fame all throughout high school at Yvonne Ewell Townview Magnet Center in Dallas. While attending A&M-Commerce, Porter has performed at Cold War, Finest, numerous local parties, and many Dallas clubs. Porter was recently signed to Big Wheel/Asylum Records. Today, Porter is one of the biggest icons in Commerce, Texas. His hit singles “Kodak” and “Check out my Lean” have been played at numerous Commerce events. Porter’s album “Deal Wit It” consists of club bouncing mixes, slow mesmerizing beats, free styling rhymes, and two songs dedicated to a dear friend that Porter lost. Porter’s album contains a variety of up beat hits and slow jams that caters to all audiences.
One of my favorite lines from the single, “Check Out My Lean” is, “You say you wanna rock, but the beat got you leanin, check out the girls screamin when they find out that I’m leavin.”
That one line gives you an unique sample of flavor that reveals how Porter really gets your body leaning from to side, no matter where you are. No other song compares to “Kodak” featuring Jesse Odibo also known as J Dot, which consists of a low grooving beat that makes you want to nod your head slowly and strike a pose for the camera. Kodak makes you want to walk, stop, and quickly freeze.
