RTV looking for loving

Students of RTV (Radio and Television) 409 are developing a fresh and entertaining dating show this spring semester, to be broadcast on television throughout Commerce.

Starting as an initial proposal, RTV’s “Dating Show” has become a new reality for students. RTV students Michael Krenek and Marcus Moseley will direct the show, both having high hopes for the success of the show.

“We want the show to help out students and entertain people,” Krenek said.

Krenek, who will be hosting the show, says that the show will take the formula of the old “The Dating Game” from the 1970s – with some alterations to keep the show interesting.

There will be three different rounds in which a potential dater will question three perspective contestants without seeing who they are.

The first round will have the potential dater asking given questions from the producers to the other three contestants.

The second round will involve a physical challenge for the three contestants to undertake.

In the third round, one of the contestants will be eliminated and the potential dater will ask the remaining two personal questions they have chosen themselves.

The daters will then have a chance to go on a dinner date, catch a movie, or watch a University Playhouse theatre production, all of which will be paid for by RTV students.

Afterwards, the daters can then come back and share their experiences. “This is college and dating is a part of it,” Krenek said. “We hope fireworks occur and the daters have good stories to tell. A lot of viewers watch a lot of dating shows and already don’t expect the perfect date. We just want real and fun dates.”

The directors for the dating show are also looking for the best fit when it comes to potential daters. The goal is to find someone energetic, enthusiastic, and most of all, real.

“We want the show to be fun for students,” Krenek said.

The directors are looking to make the entire experience entertaining, thrilling and enjoyable. Filming for the show will begin soon with a targeted premiere at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 on Channel 3.
