Texas A&M University-Commerce Counseling Center is now offering free legal advice to students. The attorney can assist students in legal matters such as contracts, family law, landlord disputes, probate wills, and traffic tickets as well as many other matters.
All records are kept confidential and all communication between the student and counselor will be held in confidence, and will not be disclosed to any outside persons or agencies unless the student has given permission. The only time any information will be disclosed is a government or agency requires it or required by law such as when there is a risk of imminent harm to self or others. This includes reported abuse of children, elderly, or the disabled.
The student’s records at the Counseling Center are not part of their academic or administrated records. Student records are not available to anyone including family, parents, police, employees, faculty, or administrators unless the student provides written consent.
Appointments are needed to meet with the attorney and can be made by contacting the Counseling Center. Appointments can be made in person or by phone during office hours. The Counseling Center is open Monday through Thursday.
