The Safe Sex Olympics, hosted by the Campus Peer Education group, tested many students on their knowledge of sexual awareness on Feb.13 in the American Ballroom of the Memorial Student Center.
“This outcome of the ever was very fulfilling, we as S.W.A.T. T.E.A.M. members worked hard this year in trying to top last years performance, so we were very proud of ourselves with the outcome and support that we had.” Tieranee Jones, president of S.W.A.T. T.E.A.M. said.
“The main focus of the program was to inform our campus of sexual responsibility that should be required of yourself by creating awareness for the most common STD’S/STI’S, proper uses of condoms, the correct lubricants, and by starting the conversation with any sexual relationship with the hopes of creating a healthy one. And last but not least by Getting Tested!” Jack Duffie, president of S.W.A.T. T.E.A.M. said.
Some people felt that activities such as, the lube taste test, weren’t necessary, but it was the main focus of the event.
“Yes, People had a problem with the lube test. At my table, I not only present the lube test, during my session I showed students how to use female condoms, because they really didn’t know how. The lube test was just a game. I’m upset that people were upset,” Duffie said.
There was also an activity called Pin the Dental Dam on the Vulva, where the student was blindfolded, turned around three times and told to place the dental dam (female condom) on the poster.
“I talked about different stuff. I aske students questions like, do you know how to use a female condom? And if they responded no, I showed them how to, ” Duffie said.
