More ass than class

Some may ask, where have all the chivalrous men gone but we ask what has happened to all the classy ladies?

Nowadays it is more common to see a woman parading herself around in a shirt that leaves little to the imagination and pants that allow passers-by a full view of her underwear. What happened to the days of skirts and blouses?

Looking at this trend of “less is more” regarding clothing from a progressive standpoint, one can deduce the future of fashion to be nothing more than bikinis and, eventually, a line that states “don’t eat and wear nothing but a thong.” We miss the days of Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Natalie Wood. These were women who knew how to be sexy but keep their clothes on. Sure there were a few bumps along the way, but their classic kind of sexy never goes out of style.

The next question is why are young ladies today exposing more of their anatomy than is necessary? The answer we came up with is in the role models. The aforementioned women were the influences for our parents’ generation and a selective few today. Some may call this style of dress and life prude, but we know better.

All of these women knew how to bring men to their knees with out the promise of … well you get it. Today’s role models have a new style of “class,” such as class C misdemeanors like public intoxication and public nudity. With this kind of image being broadcast, it is easy to see why 14-year-olds are attempting to show their “Britney’s”.

And lets not exclude fellow students, yes, even here at Texas A&M University-Commerce, who insist on showcasing their “goods.” You are NOT excluded from the list of women demoralizing our youth. You too should be held accountable for the fact that your little sisters, nieces, and cousins are on the fast track to becoming streetwalkers and strippers.

There is an easy solution to this problem. Respect yourself and put some damn clothes on. Furthermore, teach your younger siblings to do the same. Stand up for yourself and the woman you are. Make men lust for what they can’t see, both physically and mentally.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with respecting Jackie Onassis and trying to emulate the wonderfully classic image she is known for. If you want men to respect you, the first step is respecting yourself.
