On the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus, students often hold events that showcase their talents and abilities to do certain things.
Also on the campus, faculty members hold events that showcase some of their abilities through research.
Dr. Linda Matthei, assistant Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences started the Lunch Hour Colloquium Series last year and two took place.
The series is a chance for the faculty to talk about the research they have been conducting.
This year, for the first of two Lunch Hour Colloquium Series, there are two faculty members who are presenting their research.
Dr. JoAnn DiJborjioe-Lupz was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship, a prestigious award that few receive, to travel to Jordan for six months. She will be discussing her experiences there.
Dr. John Hannas will be presenting “We Just Came to See the Show” in which he does research on a murder trial of a Hunt County woman in the 1930s.
Though this series mostly focus es on the faculty research, students can also participate. They can get feedback on books and poems and they also can showcase
their work.
Students are encouraged to come and view the research that is being presented.
Dr. Matthei hopes that the Lunch Hour Colloquium Series will continue for years to come though it is getting hard to find slots for faculty to present
their research.
The Lunch Hour Colloquium Series are held every Wednesday at noon in the Faculty Lounge in Binnion Hall with free pizza offered
