RHA elects new officers

Residence Hall Association (RHA) at Texas A&M University-Commerce appointed its new officers for the 2008-2009 school year on Thursday, September 18th. The organization, which has been in existence since 1973, offers A&M-Commerce residents the opportunity to get involved on campus past their everyday academic studies.Valerie Finnegan, RHA Advisor and Berry Hall Director, has been the organizational advisor for the past three years.

“I initially wanted to be Advisor of RHA because I desired to provide residents with the kind of experience that I benefited from as an undergraduate involved in my hall association and RHA,” Finnegan said.

Although none of the new officers are returning from previous years, Finnegan believes the group to be extremely capable of representing RHA.

“After experiencing the enthusiasm and dedication of our current officers, I hope to see the current officers continue with their efforts next year,” Finnegan said. “They’ve gotten a great start on the semester.”

DeAirion Brown, a sophomore Criminal Justice major was appointed as president of RHA.

“I felt like I needed to be the leader of something,” Brown said.

“I had never really been a part of anything previously so I thought, why not now?”
