Fore bolsters Lions’ receiving corps

Even with the success redshirt sophomore wide receiver Taylor Fore has had this year for the Texas A&M University- Commerce football team, he remains humble and said he knows his success is due to his parents, coaches and teammates believing in him. Fore began playing football at the age of four for a little league team in Keller, TX, and instantly became a fan of the game.

“My dad was a big fan of the game, and I soon became one too,” Fore said. Fore later went on to play football in high school for Keller Central where he was a three-year starter and three-time all-district selection. Fore had an impressive high school career with 161 catches for 2,503 and 14 touchdowns. He was also named Offensive Back of the Year his sophomore and junior year.

Fore came to A&M-Commerce as a redshirt freshman, and he said he knew he wanted to have an active role on the team.

“I took advantage of watching the older players and what the coaches had to say, and eventually I got the chance to play,” Fore said. In 2008 Fore was named a Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, blocked a team-high four kicks, and hauled in a season-high 54 yards on four receptions against Southwestern Oklahoma State (Nov. 8). In this season’s game against Central Oklahoma on Sept. 26, Fore had three receptions for 58 yards and two touchdowns to earn the Lone Star Conference (LSC) Offensive Player of the week, his second LSC award.

“Awards like the Offensive Player of the week are really team awards,” Fore said. “The coaches gave me a chance and Adam and my teammates believed in me.” Not only did his teammates recognize his efforts in the game against Central Oklahoma, his peers did as well.

“I was probably as nervous as the players were at the moment, yet when Fore made the touchdown I was excited along with him and his teammates,” sophomore LaQuinlan Loudermilk said. Though football is a passion for Fore, teaching and helping the youth is another subject he is passionate about.

“I love to help and teach others,” Fore said.

Fore coaches a Little League team in Commerce. He said if playing in the National Football League does not work out, then he would like to coach at a high school. Fore said his inspiration for bringing his all to the game is due to his father showing him that he could do anything thing he wanted.

“My father owned his own business, which made me believe that I could do anything that I wanted including football,” Fore said.
