Women’s soccer
The A&M-Commerce women’s soccer team dropped both of their matches this weekend, but still made it into the last LSC tournament spot.
They first lost 1-0 in the second half of overtime against Central Oklahoma last Friday. Katelyn Cropp scored in the 119th minute to give the Bronchos the win at home.
The match was a tight contest, as Central Oklahoma just out-shot the Lions 18 to 14. A&M-Commerce goalkeeper Taylor Jordan made eight saves on the night.
On Sunday, the Lions lost again, this time by a score of 2-1 to Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The first goal came from Southwestern’s Stephanie Kneedler in the 22nd minute.
Korey Hearn then gave the home team a two goal advantage early in the second half. Senior Meagain Lasley got a goal back for A&M-Commerce in the 67th minute, but it was not enough to inspire a come back.
Despite losing both games, the Lions still finished 6th in the LSC table, which is enough to secure them the final LSC tournament spot. They will begin tournament play on Nov. 5 in Canyon, Texas. West Texas A&M are the tournament hosts.
