The Commerce Parks Foundation is promoting a Skate Competition and Fundraiser for this Saturday, Nov. 19, at Commerce’s City Park. Funds will go to the Commerce Skatepark Project, which has been working for the better part of a year to bring a skate park to the city.
Registration for the event will open at noon, with the competition starting at 1 p.m. Skaters who wish to compete must provide a $10 donation to the Skatepark Project. Any $10 donation will also come with a free ticket for Beta Skateboards prize drawings and $5 off for an event t-shirt, which will be available for $15. Food and drinks will also be provided.
Forms and waivers necessary for registration are available at the Morris Recreation Center, the Parks Department office at City Hall, the Chamber of Commerce office, and in Greenville at Hibbetts, the YMCA or Hastings.
This is the second competition fundraiser put on by the Skatepark Project, with the previous one held in September.
According to a Commerce Parks Foundation press release for the event, “We are expecting a good turnout and want to invite everyone to come spend the day at your park watching some really talented athletes.”
The event will begin with the game of skate competition, followed by ollie high at 3 p.m. and ollie long at 4 p.m.
