Chihop raises money for Make a Wish

The Chi Omega sorority held their Chihop fundraiser in the Baptist Student Ministry at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Among the food served was an unlimited amount of pancakes.

For the price of a ticket students would be contributing to the Chi Omega’s philanthropy.  “This is our philanthropy effort for the “Make A Wish” foundation, Community service chair and member Blakeli Burney said, “all proceeds will be donated to the “Make A Wish” foundation. Last year it was held at the (Chi Omega) house, this year it was held at the BSM with the walk through all you can eat buffet style.”

There were many students in attendance. Along with pancakes, beverages such as orange juice and coffee were served as well.

“The most fun part was at the beginning when we made the pancakes. There was batter everywhere,” Chi Omega member and junior marketing major Mariana Harrison said. “Our goal is to grant a wish for someone, we did it last year.” said Harrison.

This was the second annual Chihop for the sorority, and they plan to raise enough money to donate to the “Make a wish” foundation and be able to grant someone a wish.

“My favorite part was watching them (Chi Omega sorority members) all serve us,” freshman Commerce Lion football player Lawson Schwertner said.

The next event to raise funds to contribute to the foundation will be held next semester in the spring. The proceeds from both events will be combined to contribute to the foundation.
