Texas A&M University-Commerce head volleyball coach Gwen Weatherford announced Monday the addition of Perla Faudoa, Alyssa Oberle and Samantha Holmes to the team.
Faudoa, a 5-7 setter from Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, was a two-time All-American at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas. She was second team AVCA All-American as a sophomore and finished second in the nation in assists per game, averaging 13.12 assists per game. Faudoa recorded a career-high 70 assists in a match against University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.
En route to earning first team AVCA All-American honors as a freshman, she finished fourth in the nation, averaging 13.04 assists. She also recorded a pair of double double performances as well as a season-high 65 assists in a match.
In 2007, at Frank Phillips College, they finished fourth in the nation and were Region V and Western Junior College Conference champions. Faudoa was an All-American scholar for her efforts in the classroom.
Faudoa has also played on the Mexico National Team since 1999.
Oberle, a 5-8 outside hitter from Denton, was the 2007 North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year at North Central Texas College. She led the conference in service aces per game with 0.48 to go along with 130 kills en route to being named first team all-conference.
Holmes, a 5-10 outside hitter from Terrell, Texas, comes to A&M-C after being a three-sport athlete at nearby Terrell High School. She was a three-year letterwinner in volleyball and in basketball and also earned four letters in track and field. She averaged 12.3 kills and 2.6 blocks a match throughout her career and named team’s Offensive Player of the Year as a senior.
