Athletics honors top performers at banquet

The annual all-sports banquet was held April 15 to recognize the accomplishments of the various Texas A&M University – Commerce athletic teams. The following were the awards presented during the banquet. Pinky Hartline was presented with the Boley Crawford Award for most outstanding male golfer. Heather Pantallion was presented the Dr. Margo Harbison award for most outstanding female golfer.Tyler Tyndell was named men’s cross country outstanding student-athlete. Meagan Lasely was named the outstanding student-athlete for women’s soccer. Colleen Favaro was named the volleyball outstanding student-athlete, for the second conseutive year. The Bobby Fox award for football’s outstanding defensive player went to Garnet Smith.The J.V. Sikes Award – presented to the player who exhibits leadership, attitude, scholarship, loyalty, achievement, and desire necessary to build a champion. – was presented to JaMicheal Palmer.Men’s basketball outstanding student-athlete award was presented to Scooby Johnson and Len Bishop Jr. The Susie Knause Memorial Heart Award (presented to a women’s basketball player for her desire, dedication, leadership and scholarship) was presented to Katedria Moseley.Women’s basketball outstanding student-athlete award was presented to Britney Jordan. Darron Sheppard was presented with the Earnest Hawkins award (football most outstanding offensive player), Jesse J. Hawthorne award (A&M-C outstanding male athlete) and was the co-recipient of the men’s track and field outstanding student-athlete. Sheppard shared the track and field award with Leonard Jackson. Andra Bickel was named women’s track and field outstanding student-athlete, was the co-recipient of women’s cross country outstanding student-athlete award, and was presented with the Lib Huggins award as A&M-C outstanding female athlete. Bickel shared the cross country award with Kate Donovan.
