Hartline wins individual title, Women Lions finish third

Mens GolfTexas A&M University-Commerce junior Pinkey Hartline shot his third-consecutive round under par en route to a 209 (69-69-71) to win the individual title at the Lone Star Conference Championships Tuesday in Thackerville, Oklahoma at the WinStar Golf Course.It is the first individual title for the Lake Jackson native in his career by one stroke over Jeff Cox of Northeastern State and Peter Svajlen of Cameron. Cyril Buoniol of Abilene Christian, Zach Cleland of Central Oklahoma and Cane Shumaker of Cameron were named to the all-tournament team too.The performance by Hartline led the Lions to a seventh-place finish with a two-day, 54-hole total of 76 (290-295-291). Sophomore Danny Jun and junior Eric Westerman tied for 27th with a 222. Jun closed out the tournament with an even par 72 to go along with a 74 and 76 from Monday’s action and Westerman shot a one-over par 73 to go along with a 72 and 77 in the first 36 holes. Junior Blake Worden tied for 32nd with a 223 (75-73-75) and Ryan Hickey tied for 45th with a 2340 (77-78-75).Cameron ended a three-year reign by Northeastern State for the team title with a eight-stroke victory over the RiverHawks with a 855 (288-284-283). Svajlen led the Aggies with his 210 (72-67-71) en route to a tied-for-second place finish.

Womens GolfWith three players in the top 16, the Texas A&M University-Commerce finished in third place at the Lone Star Conference Championship in Thackerville, Oklahoma at the WinStar Golf Resort. Ahead of the Lions was No. 5 Tarleton State with a 602 (302-300) and No. 9 Northeastern State with a 612 (311-301).For the victorious TexAnns, who won by 10 strokes over the RiverHawks, the top four golfers finished in the top 10 led by the third-place finish of Andrea Lowe.NSU was led by Courtney Epps, who shot an even-par 144 (75-69) to edge teammate Stephanie Bird by two strokes for the indivdiual title.The Lions shot a 640 (318-322) and were led by sophomore Heather Pantalion, who just missed all-conference honors with a 156 (78-78) and junior Jamie Gililland was 12th with a 157 (78-79).Freshman Megan Benites tied for 16th with a 162 (79-83) and freshman Mallory Kempf moved into a tie for 36th with a nine-stroke improvement for a 181 (95-86).
