No hope for the future?

‘Tis the season for politics to get its bloody claws around our throat. Soon this whole mess of a campaign will be over, and I cannot wait!

This election has sucked out all of the fun that politics should be. It had an exciting start, Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton fought it out, John McCain made a clean sweep, and Ron Paul got left behind. Then Joe Biden and Sarah Palin are added to the mix.

Good God! Someone help us. McCain has spent the majority of his time, in between stories of being a POW, attacking Obama’s lack of experience. McCain was doing well with that. Stick to it! Do not go look for your opponent’s conservative equivalent. He made a surprising choice of Sarah Palin.

Prior to her sudden fame, Palin’s experience amounted to serving two years as governor to our countries largest, and sparsely populated, state. That’ll do it. That should be enough to run the country in case the old man has a heart attack.

She likes to hunt, doesn’t that equal to military experience? Imagine sending the former beauty pageant winner to Iran to talk things over. What am I talking about, with McCain there will be no talks, only bombs.

It’s not news that I support Obama. Well, let’s say supported. A campaign of hope and change was just what this country needed. We all bought into the hype. Of course we did, it was fun and new. Once the nomination was his, the flip-flopping began.

Good ol’ Joe Biden is the best example of this. Some of you might remember seeing his name last year, it was always next to Mike Gravel and Ron Paul with a zero next it. Obama’s campaign was a no-mud-slinging, anti-lobbyist, breath of fresh air. But with Biden, all of that will change. Biden is known for being a strong and fierce campaigner. He showed this to us in the primaries when he referred to Barack as a “clean” black man.

Am I the only one who remembers that? Because Biden has fought for civil rights most of his career and he can get away with a statement like that and become vice president. Let’s not forget what he said about the Indians, “You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Duncan Donuts without a slight Indian accent.” Of course he couldn’t be racist, he is a liberal.

These new additions to the campaign trail are not consistent with the agenda of either candidate. McCain and Obama were not thinking about the future of America, they were thinking of how to get more points on the score board. Typical politicians. Yet, we continue to buy into it. It does not matter who wins, a politician will still take the office. A professional liar. We can all sleep well knowing that.
