Many events are being planned for the month of February by Breakout Entertainment for the student body of Texas A&M University- Commerce.
One of the activities, which will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 14, is the Sweet Melodies Valentine’s Day Banquet. It will be held in the American Ballroom in the Memorial Student Center at 7 p.m.
“The banquet will provide an outlet for those students who don’t have transportation or the money required for a night out in Dallas,” Justin Cox, president of Breakout Entertainment, said.
The event will include a live performance by The House Jacks, an a cappella rock band from San Francisco and dinner.
According to the band’s Web site, www.housejacks.com, they use their five voices but no instruments to perform all kinds of music including funk, rock and ballads.
“The banquet has gone over well in the past and we wanted to provide an opportunity for the student body to have fun over Valentine’s Day without having to leave Commerce,” Cox said.
The menu choices for the event will include chicken cordon bleu with new potatoes, salmon in a mango salsa with coconut rice or a vegetarian option.
“We will be offering three menu options for the banquet as well as a dessert bar.” Cox said.
The dessert bar will include a chocolate fountain and will also house a variety of desserts, including cheesecake.
According to Cox, the banquet will be decorated in a valentine theme using a typical red, white and pink hearts theme.
“We will be using MSC decor and some of our own original decoration ideas to make the event elegant and special for those who attend,” Cox commented.
The tickets for the Valentine’s Day banquet will be $20 each or $30 per couple for A&M-Commerce students and $25 each or $40 per couple for general admission.
Tickets to the event can be purchased through Feb. 9 in the Campus Synergy Lab or by calling 903-468-8067.
