Put your fists down and raise your flags up.
“We the people, in order to form a more perfect UNION…”
The word union is so important to the effectiveness of the constitution of the UNITED States of America. We are a country of individual states created to work TOGETHER for the common good of the nation.
Instead, we break ourselves up into races and classes that have served no purpose other than to divide us. As you all know, nine days ago, the 44th President of the United States of America took the oath of office.
There are a few events that have made this particular swearing in an important one. We are in the middle of several military actions that are proving to be unpopular with the country’s left and world in a general sense.
Also, our country is in an economic downturn that has some worried about the future of the nation. This economic downturn has caused hundreds of thousands of people to lose their jobs and for large corporations to close their doors.
The President who was sworn in a little over a week ago, is someone who will have to deal with these problems and make decisions that he and his administration think is best for the country as a whole.
With these events plaguing the minds of the American public, you would think that those would be the most important issues with the candidate who was sworn in. But alas, the American public, as shallow and vapid as we are, seem to only to be focusing on the race of the individual. Barack Hussein Obama, is in fact a man of color. Big deal. It is a big deal in that it has never been done. But why are we surprised? Should it have taken us this long to be able to do it? Lets face it, we are now more than 40 years removed from the civil rights movement and the landmark events like the Million Man March.
We boast ourselves to be the “melting pot of the world” and the “most diverse country” in the world. And it is this same country that just cannot seem to get past the point that we finally elected a black president.
To really look at it, can President Obama really have a color or a race? No. Not when it comes to holding so close to culture and race that it affects his decision-making.
He now represents and leads the country as a whole. That means black, red, yellow, brown and white. He makes decisions that affect us all. Why are we so wrapped up in the fact that he isn’t white? How about we focus on how he is going to help turn our country in a new direction that will hopefully lead us to a brighter future.
We are not a unified country. Not really. Not when the most important issue with the President is the color of his skin and the country and continent from whence his father came.
People, our country is in a time of turmoil. We must as a whole stand up and forget that President Obama is black; we must forget that we have broken “race barriers” and come together to help him figure out how to help this country.
