It is that time of the month when we take a look at the top five You Tube videos for the last month and bring you a short synopsis and opinion of each video.
Round Two Announcement Video – projectreport
This video is fascinating. There is a contest going on across the world all You Tubers can enter. The rules are simple. Contestants must submit a video under four minutes long which has some local and global value. The piece is then judged by the members of the You Tube community and by the head of the Pulitzer committee. The winner is then given a large sum of money and all the help he or she would need to produce a documentary from a ravaged part of the world.I love this idea. It is nice to see a site as popular as You Tube trying to get young people involved in the world around them not to mention journalism. It makes a statement of quality. The site could thrive solely on videos such as “Brittney’s nip slip” or “Katy Perry falls down at an award show,” but instead it chooses a higher route and asks the viewers to get involved in the world.
Take the Absolute Radio Tour – Absolute Radio
This is a relatively decent add involving a vertically challenged individual giving a tour to three people interested in the seeing how a radio station works. The end result is the midget gets pretty upset and starts dancing to old style punk rock. This video does have a little humor to it, but is nothing more than an add for Absolute Radio. It’s not overly clever and dancing is only funny for about five seconds. Honestly I wouldn’t spend my time checking this out unless you are suffering from insomnia.
Ghost House Under Ground – ghosthouseunderground
This short is an add for eight new films similar to last years eight films to die for. The ad only lasts a little over 30 seconds and is fairly entertaining. The movies look like they could be relatively entertaining and since they are picked by the directors of the grudge movies and 30 Days of Night there is some merit to these theatrical decisions. The only downside to this video is its length. It doesn’t leave the viewer with a lot of information or any idea what the movies are about. In any event the screen shots from the movies look relatively entertaining and therefore the ad is worth looking at.
Fred Faces a Dirty Campaign – Fred
Last month I had to review a video by the infamous Fred. At the time I thought there is no way this annoying little fop is going to maintain any kind of popularity and there is no way I will have to watch another video of his. Sadly I was mistaken. The new adventure of Fred has him whining about running for class president and a kid named Kevin destroying all my posters. This video does excel a little more in one area compared to the last one I watched. It is more annoying. And not just a little more I mean excessively more. I would rather be forced to eat nothing but tree bark for the rest of my life then watch another one of Fred’s videos. Seriously we need to stop supporting this kid and slay his evil popular dragon. Oy.
Saints Row 2 – Colicoba
The latest installment of the Grand Theft Auto series is displayed in this 30 second short and the game looks absolutely amazing. The video however isn’t very interesting unless you are gamer. Personally I love seeing video game ads made accessible, but for those You Tubers who are looking for some humor, drama or anything else this ad will not suffice.
