Last week I tackled the controversial and painful topic of hair removal. For the second piece in my series, I decided a bit of relaxation was in order.
With this in mind I underwent a manicure and a pedicure.
Prior to this experience I have to admit I was somewhat scared. I have very sensitive hands and toes plus incredibly ticklish feet.
With no idea what a manicure and pedicure entailed I stepped into the world of the unknown and when I came out I was filled with a sense of calmness and wonderfully smooth skin.
In short, I loved it. It was one of the best feelings I’ve had in my life. My nail technician started by scrubbing my toes and removing my cuticles and it was quite the wonderful experience. She made my toes feel like little massage happy candies. The only downside to this portion of the process was the removal of ingrown toenail on my left big toe.
I will admit the removal of the nail was fairly painful and continued to hurt well into the next day, but compared to how good the filing of the rest of the nails felt, it was well worth the pain.
After she completed my nails, a pumice stone was revealed and my wonderful nail angel proceeded to rub all the dead skin off my feet.
Once completed my feet felt as soft as they had ever been and if possible I would have gone the rest of my life with out wearing shoes.
Seriously, to all the men reading this ignore the stereotype of pedicures not being manly and treat yourself.
Before I began my manicure I was given a calf massage, which made me feel like I could run 80 miles.
It was the perfect way to cap off an incredible experience and only hoped the manicure would be equally enjoyable. Sadly I was mistaken.
I’m not saying it was a horrible experience, but it was definitely more painful then the pedicure.
It started the same way as the pedicure with the removal of my cuticles, but due to some vicious hang nails my hands were left in more then a little bit of pain.
Even with this in mind the end result left my nails shiny and clean. I would gladly take the pain of hangnail removal to keep my hands soft and clean.
She completed the manicure with a hand and fore arm massage, which I wished lasted longer.
When all was said and done, the event left me feeling fresh and rejuvenated. Prior to my experience I would never have given a thought to spending money on nail care, but now I can honestly say it will become a monthly ritual.
