Kings Of Leon reign supreme

Nashville rock n’ rollers Kings of Leon reign supreme with their all out, balls to the wall release, “Because of the Times.”

But would you expect anything less from the king quartet?

The three sons of a Pennocostal minister, the Followill brothers-Jared, Caleb and Nathan with their first cousin Matthew are bringing back a classic ’70’s sound with hints of southern rock sensibility and funk groove to form a sound to tap your toes to, in perhaps their best release to date.

Each cut is produced well but still has the rough edge that listeners of the band have come to know and enjoy. For newbies, this should remind of you of bands such as Midlake and My Morning Jacket, with more raw energy and showmanship.

With each new album, the guys try to top their last with a new level of uniqueness.

The album starts off with a mellow track, “Knocked Up,” and sets the tone. “Charmer” follows with unforgettable harmonies that keep the listener engaged, while the music is straight up rockin’.

The CD follows with awesome tracks “On Call,” (the single released prior to distribution), “Arizona” and “Fans.” “Arizona” is a perfect end to some solid rocking tunes.

Overall, this is a must have for the 2007, especially if you like your music gritty, powerful, melodic and with pleny of spirit.

Long live the kings!
