Students sound off on deadly shootings

The East Texan asked A&M-Commerce students their opinions of Monday’s shootings at Virginia Tech.

“It’s outrageous. People should be more cautious and aware of their surroundings. I think there should be more security on campus.”Danielle Reynolds, undergraduate student

“It raises the question of gun control. There should be security and there should be control over individual possession of guns.” Sunil Kandel, graduate student

“I feel like, it’s a bad thing. People do crazy things when they have a lot going on. It was a tragedy. The guy must have gone through a lot to do something like that.”Mark Fisher, undergraduate student

“It makes people nervous to go to school. Anyone is open to come and go. The person next to you might have a gun.” Skylita Freeman, undergraduate student

“I think it’s horrible. If they had a system in place, where they could stop, it would have saved many lives.”Brittany Hobden, undergraduate student

“It scares me. It really scares me that something like that could happen anywhere and so many people died.”Erin O’Grady, undergraduate student
