The Farrelly brothers are at it again with their new absurd, outlandish, laugh-out-loud comedy, “The Heartbreak Kid.”
Eddie Cantrow (Ben Stiller) is 40-years-old and single. Assaulted by his elderly, perverted father (Jerry Stiller) and his best friend (Rob Corddry) to assume manly duties as a husband, Eddie jumps into marriage with Lila (Malin Akerman).
Upon honeymooning in Cabo San Lucas, Eddie realizes his marriage to Lila is premature and finds happiness in a vacationing Missourian named Miranda (Michelle Monaghan).
Balancing happiness with righteousness, Eddie must make a decision on how to dump his wife to start a relationship with his newfound love.
This film exudes crude, gratuitous sexual humor and if you are not a fan please do not disservice yourself in watching it.
But if you have an open mind in pushing the limits of sexual comedy, this is the film for you!
Walking out of this movie, I was speechless on how to describe it. Reflecting back on the situation a few days later, I have come to the same conclusion that it was a stupid movie.
I use stupid as a state of mental numbness resulting from shock. So many things grossed me out during the two hours of hysterics, that when I left the theater not a single word uttered from my mouth made any sense.
This is a film for men, but women will love it because it shows how ridiculous men can be when it comes to sex and relationships. Eddie is the perfect man who owns a sporting goods store, but is reluctant to settle down because all women have some sort of quirk he cannot deal with. His best friend Mac, who is married, is “whipped” by his wife and father, Doc, who is an old man solely interested in sex.
As this is a film for men, it has a fair amount of what an “R” rating has to offer. A kitten ring, man-o-war and urine provide an ending with such antics that you will need to watch over and over again to fully appreciate the value of filmmaking.
“The Heartbreak Kid” is not for the faint of heart and not for audiences who deem sexual humor unfavorable.
Be prepared to wet your pants, change them, and wet them all over again in this hilarious new Farrelly Brothers movie.
