Editorial: Summer news gives students link to Commerce over break

It has been a long time since The East Texan has had any sort of presence during the summer. We decided with the advent of our daily online edition we would continue to work through the summer at a reduced schedule.

We want to help those living in Commerce during this time find out what’s going on in town and what events they can become involved with on campus. We hope this endeavor will create a greater sense of community for the town and its inhabitants during a time when few students are living in Commerce.

We also hope this effort will allow students who go home during the break to connect with the school, town and friends remaining in Commerce. This will let students know what to look for in terms of entertainment upon their return in the fall.

We hope these efforts help our readers and improve the communal environment of Commerce over the summer.
