Women’s soccer team looks for success away from home

The weekend action kicks off on Friday for women’s soccer. They travel to San Angelo, Texas, to play Angelo State University at 3:00 p.m. The Rambelles are currently eighth in the LSC standings, and they have a record of 8-5 (2-3).

A&M-Commerce, now 7-5 (2-2), will have to cope with Angelo State junior Ashley Brown, who leads the Rambelles in points with seven goals and four assists. Brown was not yet playing for Angelo State when they lost 4-1 to the Lions in 2008.

Senior Meagan Lasley is leading A&M-Commerce’s scoring charts with nine goals. She said the Lions just need to focus if they want to make the most out of this season.

“I think more than anything we need to figure out who were playing for and go for it,” Lasley said. “I feel like we just have to want it.”

With six games left in the season, A&M-Commerce is in sixth place in the LSC. They will have to get as much as they can out of the remaining games to ensure they secure a good place in the LSC Tournament.

“I feel like they are beatable,” Lasley said about the remaining teams A&M-Commerce has to play. “I feel like everyone’s beatable, but I also feel like everyone’s good. Each day is a different day, and whoever comes out to play is the one who wins.”

The Lions finish up their weekend play against Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, at 1:00 p.m. Next weekend, starting Oct. 23, A&M-Commerce will play its last two home games of the season.
