A&M-Commerce changes payment policy

The Texas A&M University-Commerce office of Financial Services has just announced, starting next semester it will be implementing a new payment plan in an effort to give students a break on their tuition costs.

In conjunction with the department of Student Access and Success, the offices of Financial Services has come up with a few ideas to help improve the economic condition of its students.

One of these ideas is the implementation of a new policy for the payment of tuition and fees, which will allow students to pay in multiple installments. Under the current policy, a student must pay one-half of the total tuition costs and fees by the 20th class day.

Starting next semester this will no longer be the case.

When the new policy goes into effect, students will be given the option to pay $100 as a down payment before the first day of class and then pay one-fourth of the remaining cost by the 20th class day. The student then has the remainder of the semester to pay out the remaining balance in installments, with a final payment near the end of the semester.

“We realize that these are difficult economic times,” Dr. Mary Hendrix, vice president of Student Access and Success, said.

It’s due in large part to this economic awareness that the new policy will give students all semester to slowly pay for their education.
