Retired Texas A&M University-Commerce professor Dr. Jack Ingram was struck and killed this morning while crossing the intersection at Live Oak Street and Prim Street in Commerce.
According to a press release from Commerce Police Chief Kerry Crews, Ingram was struck by a 2006 Toyota Tundra pick-up truck. The driver said she was making a left turn and the sun was impairing her vision when she struck Ingram. Foul play is not a factor in this accident according to the police.
Ingram was transported by American Medical Response to Hunt Regional Community Hospital in Greenville. He was pronounced dead a short time later by Justice of the Peace Sandy Lane Berger. An autopsy has been requested.
