Cowboys, Texans begin season 2-0

Texas football fans, you have a lot to shout about so far this NFL season.

I’ll grant you, it’s only week two, but if the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans keep playing like they played the first two weeks, who knows? You might just see a

Texas Superbowl before you know it.

Dallas was supposed to be a playoff team and possibly win its division, but the Houston Texans? No one thought they would be 2-0, but they are. Dallas completely dominated the Miami Dolphins in the second half by outscoring them 27 to 14 en route to a 37-20 win.

Tony Romo completed 14 out of 29 passes for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Marion Barber rushed for 89 yards on 14 carries with 2 touchdowns of his own. And yes, Terrell Owens (TO) caught a 34-yard touchdown from Romo, so he ought to be happy.

The Dallas offense so far this year been pretty good, if not great. The Cowboy defense was a lot better this week, as they held Miami to 20 points after giving up 35 to the New York Giants on opening day.

Wade Phillips, the Cowboys coach thinks this defense can get even better. Well, if Phillips is right, then the Cowboys should have one-heck-of-a-year. The pass defense still needs to improve as Trent Green threw for 287 yards and 2 touchdowns, but was intercepted 4 times. So, all in all, the Cowboys are in pretty good shape as they travel to Chicago next week to play the Bears.

For you few Houston fans here in Northeast Texas (Commerce), I’ll talk about this game a little. Matt Schaub, the Texans new starting quarterback, seems to be the real deal as he threw for 227 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 completions out of 28 passes.

Ahman Green, the former Green Bay Packer, rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown as he led the Texan ground attack. I’m still flabbergasted over the Texans 2-0 start. If they keep this up, I might have a heart attack from shock. Just Kidding!

But speaking of defense, who would have thought the Texans could hold Carolina to only 21 points in their home stadium. “The great Jake” Delhomme, Carolina quarterback, as Randy Galloway calls him completed 27 out 41 for 307 yards and 2 touchdowns, but was sacked three times. Not so great, Jake.

Andre Johnson, the Texans best receiver, was injured by spraining his knee. He hopes to play next week against Indianapolis, but is schedule to undergo an MRI. Final Score; Houston 34 Carolina 21.

If the Texans beat the Colts, then I guess I’ll have to admit that they (the Texans) are the real deal. Wouldn’t it be funny and great if the Cowboys and Texans were to start out 3-0.

Dallas very well could, Houston, I doubt it.
