21-year-old criminal justice major Michael Horn was arrested Thursday, Feb. 25 on a charge of marijuana possession.

A student was arrested Feb. 25 on suspicion of intent to distribute drugs after a caller tipped off officers that she smelled marijuana.

The student was identified as 21-year-old criminal justice major Michael Rashad Horn.

A police report released by the Commerce Police Department said officers received information of drug trafficking at the Gant apartments located at 1901 Live Oak St. Officers investigated the apartment and smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Upon entering the apartment, the officers found several items of drug paraphernalia in the living room.

The person in control of the apartment gave consent for a search of the apartment in which four ounces of marijuana, a 9mm pistol and numerous items of drug paraphernalia were found.

The officers arrested Horn on a charge of possession of marijuana of over four ounces, but less than five pounds. Horn's bond was set at $15,000.

Officer Alex Suarez of CPD said he does not think this incident is related to the drug related arrests made last week.
