Lions fall to Texas Woman's

The Lions women's basketball team has lost four straight.

The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team dropped a 106-76 decision to host Texas Woman's on Saturday afternoon in Denton.

A&M-Commerce (4-14, 1-5 LSC North) had four players in double figures in the loss. Junior Genevieve Campbell had a team-best and game-high 22 points to pace the Lions.

Mattilyn McIntyre added 17 points and a team-best and game-high nine rebounds. Ashley Murphy and Tiffany Mitchell scored 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Texas Woman's (11-7, 5-1 LSC North) had seven players score in double digits as they shot 50% from the field in the win. Kayla Weaver and Jessica Hanna each had 17 points to pace the Pioneers.

Weaver and Hanna along with Tiandrea Dixon and Megan Hashman scored 13 and 11 points, respectively as four TWU starters scored in double figures. Off the bench, Jessica Durr and Diandra Marquez scored 15 and 14 points, respectively and Jeanee' Thompson added 10.

With a 17-10 lead at the 12:50 mark, TWU went on a 19-7 midway through the opening half to put the Lions behind double digits for the remainder of the contest. In the first 20 minutes, A&M-Commerce was held to 23.5% shooting and 16 turnovers.

In the second half, the Lions bounced back to shoot 50% from the field and outscored TWU by a 58-57 margin. However, the Lions would be able to get as close as 26 on a pair of occasions.

A&M-Commerce remains on the road for its next game, as they will face off against Northeastern State on Wednesday at 6 pm in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
