Graduation process involves multiple steps

As Texas A&M University-Commerce's spring commencement ceremony nears, many students wonder how they might prepare for graduation.

According to registrar Paige Bussell, students should meet with their advisors at least one or two times prior to their graduation to be sure they are on track.

"Meeting with their advisor early will help students to monitor their status through the online degree evaluation system and answer any questions they might have," Bussell said.

Students must submit an application for graduation one semester prior to their graduation date.

"The graduation application is available to students through the MyLeo accounts beginning the first day of class for each semester, first two weeks for summer," Bussell said. "E-mail notification is sent to students to remind them about applying. This usually includes a group that we have identified as having 90 or more undergraduate semester hours or 20 or more graduate hours."

Students must also prepare for graduation purchases available at the campus bookstore, first floor of the Rayburn Student Center.

"Students can purchase their regalia (including their cap and gown) through the campus bookstore," Bussell said.

Graduation ceremonies for the various colleges on campus are held at different times with different ticket amounts allotted to each. These times and ticket amounts are available online.

"Once tickets are calculated for each college, they are available to claim and print on the student's MyLeo account," Bussell said.
