The men's basketball team was defeated in the first round of playoffs 82-67 by Midwestern State University on March 3 at the Lone Star Conference championship in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

The Lions were trailing the Mustangs 37-31 at halftime, but came back five minutes into the second half to take the lead. That was short lived, lasting only five minutes before the Mustangs took control of the game and stampeded to victory. The Lions were outscored eight to zero in the last minute of play.

Though the Lions were defeated, three players scored in the double digits. Junior Desmond King led the scoring with 18 points, junior Brad Hambrick followed with 14 points and sophomore Preston Whitley rounded out the leader board with 12 points.

A&M-Commerce struggled with boards, getting outrebounded 42-27. Sophomore Andrew Davis, junior Desmond King, and senior Tyris Dowell all led the team with 5 rebounds each.

David Terrell, who had 24 points and 14 rebounds, and Chris Hagan, who scored 26 points and 2 rebounds, led the Mustangs. Central Oklahoma University and Tarleton State University duke it out in the LSC Conference championship at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
