Miley Cyrus, Kanye West lead top YouTube videos
Miley Cyrus' "Party in the U.S.A." music video
The entire video shows Cyrus swinging her hips and grabbing her hair at every opportune moment and then some. After watching the video, it may come as a surprise to some, but Cyrus is only sixteen. The video left me with the impression that she was at least 20 years old since she was gyrating wildly and wearing skimpy clothes. I was mildly impressed with the dancers she had jumping and leaping all around as she sang. I may have even seen an entire gymnastics routine amidst the increasingly annoying song, which was whiny and gave me a giant migraine.
Kanye West Disses Taylor Swift at VMA's
By this time, this subject has been beaten to death. Combine that with the fact that I never cared about the VMA's, Taylor Swift or Kayne West, and this video is at the bottom of my "must-see" list. This video's creator, however, appears to have struck a nerve among audiences, obtaining the most views during the past month. His one-minute rant against Kanye wasn't very in-depth, but the audio and editing weren't terrible. It certainly wasn't over the top, and the video properly portrayed a normal fan's reaction. Not a bad video, but it certainly doesn't deserve as many votes as it got.
Taylor Swift VMA Award Moment Ruined By Kayne West(Embedding of this video is disabled)
This video from Artisan News Services provided a wrap-up of the aforementioned VMA awards, including a tribute to Michael Jackson, Kayne's controversial microphone-grabbing incident, and Green Day's well-worded plea to MTV to play more music videos. This YouTube video is pretty well produced. The real crime here is forcing me to think about Kanye West and Taylor Swift twice in the same night.
Kanye West Disses Taylor Swift at 2009 MTV Video Music Awards
The fourth most-watched YouTube video of the month was a 54 second clip of some prepubescent kid ripping into Kanye West for his disgraceful action against Taylor Swift for winning the video of the year award. The kid in the video admitted that he likes Kayne's music, but shows how appalled he was at the bad case of verbal diarrhea West seemed to have. The little kid even had the nerve to compare West to a package you can't open up without ten minutes and a pair of heavy-duty scissors. Kanye won as the more annoying of the two.
Michael Jackson's "This is It" Official Move Trailer
Michael Jackson was never someone that impacted my life. I was born too late to witness the heyday of his musical success. The Michael Jackson I knew was always at the center of some form of controversy, a man that I knew too little about to really understand. The world's response to his death makes his impact on pop culture and the world very clear. While I'm sure that the majority of this response was genuine, Michael Jackson still makes people money even after death. I don't plan on seeing this movie, but I hope it's more than simply a Hollywood ploy to cash in on the King of Pop's death.
