CaribSA plans to give students a 'tour of the islands' at Caribbean Night
The Caribbean Student Association (CaribSA) has partnered with the Morris Recreation Center (MRC) to bring to Texas A&M University-Commerce the annual Caribbean Night inside the MRC gym April 10.
With last year's Carnival theme being a success, the theme for this year has been announced as "a tour of the islands."
"This year, for Caribbean night 2012, we're having a tour of the islands," Special Events Programmer Sarah Cunningham said. "Students can come and see what it's like on about eight different islands within the Caribbean, and enjoy authentic Caribbean foods, a fashion show and some games."
CaribSA is doing their part with this year's festivities in multiple ways including volunteering to coordinate the event and help work the event.
"[CaribSA] is helping a lot with their volunteers and giving us their great ideas on how we can decorate and how we can really bring out the Caribbean culture and teach other students and faculty about the culture," Cunningham said.
This year, the event is "Spirit Approved," so students will be able to receive spirit buttons at the event while supplies last, as well as other giveaways throughout the night. Cunningham explained that CaribSA will be having a number of raffles throughout the event, and that many students who arrive early will receive free t-shirts.
