Meet the candidate: Sarah Cunningham

Vice President Senate Chair candidate

1. Why do you want to be the SGA Vice President?
I would like to serve the student body as Vice President Senate Chair because I believe that every student on campus has a right for their voice to be heard. I want to help bridge the gap in communication between students and the administration. Positive change can only happen with good communication between the student body and the administration. I want to be your voice in working directly with the administration to make this the best possible campus.

2. What do you feel that you offer the student body, if elected?
If elected, I will bring the experience of being a senator the past two years. I will also bring the knowledge and skills that I have learned from working at the Morris Recreation Center from the past four years. I will also bring the knowledge of the different cultures and organizations around campus that I have worked with the past three years. I am very active on campus and I can bring the advice and skills that I have learned from my peers, supervisors, administration, and mentors to help with any issues that the students have. If I do not know the answer, I will find the answer by contacting the correct people. I would appreciate your support in helping make this campus the best for our students now and for all of our future Lions.

3. What are some of your goals as the SGA Vice President?
One of my goals would be to look at the past year and complete any projects that were left unfinished at the end of the spring semester. I would also have SGA make a huge initiative on branding and getting more students to see what SGA really does. Getting more students involved with SGA is important so that everyone can have their voice be heard.  Also, I would like to see the Student Senate work with the Faculty Senate and see how we can help each other.

4. What sets you apart from your opponents?
I believe that my experience working at the MRC for the past four years over the Special Event Program has given me the skills of communication, problem solving, professional, marketing, and teamwork that make me a dedicated worker to serve the student body. In all my activities at TAMU-Commerce, I always look at what is best for the Student Body as a whole. While grades are very important to each of us, our college experience is much more than just about classes - it's a life experience that each student should get the opportunity to embrace and become an active part of.
