Health class offers free STD testing

Tomorrow, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Texas A&M University-Commerce Field House, Dr. Quynh Dang's HHPH 410 class will be offering free STD testing for university students.

"It is important for students to be tested if they are sexually active so that they can know their status" class member Courtney Blackmon said. "Statistics have shown that one in every four college students have an STD."

Normally, STD testing can cost anywhere from $35 to $65, depending on an individual's gender.

"A lot of girls have the misconception that they are tested for STDs when they receive their yearly pap smears, even though most symptoms for STDS are asymptomatic," Blackmon said.

Individuals can contact Dr. Quynh Dan at Quynh_Dang@tamu-commerce.edu for more information on the event.
