YouTube sensation brings act to A&M-Commerce
Campus Activities Board presented The Evolution of Dance event hosted by comedian Judson Laipply at the Rayburn Student Center (RSC) March 6 at 7:30 p.m.
The Evolution of Dance is one of the most watched Internet videos. Laipply's YouTube videos have reached over 100 million views to date.
Laipply started off his show by telling the two reasons why he is performing the show.
"People like to laugh, so I am here to make you laugh and to make you think," Laipply said.
After listing the facts about laughing, Laipply talked about struggling on a daily basis. He stated that life changes, by giving the example of technology.
"There are two types of changes in life," Laipply said. "The ones that you have no control and the others that you will control."
Laipply's talk helped the students sit back, relax and think while blending in some laughter. Laipply gave advice to students who are struggling in life and told them to let go of the situation if they cannot do anything about it.
Around 9:00 p.m., the event came to an end with Laipply's "Evolution of Dance" performance.
Laipply said life and people change every day and will keep changing. The Evolution of Dance is a visual example of how things change. Starting off from 1960s, Laipply shows the evolution of dance over time.
"I usually just go with my talk shows, but doing it for a long time I have a general outline in my head," LaippIy said. "I am a big fan of laughter but I am also big fan of thinking, so it is nice to be able to combine the two. Anyone that tells you that they are doing something solely for the benefit of others is totally a lie. Sometimes people come up to me and say ‘the show was great', ‘I appreciate it', and those are the things that keep me doing it."
The Conference room where the event took place was full of students and members of the community who came to see the YouTube sensation performed live.
"It was really good outcome," Assistant Director of Student Activities & Special Events Deepti Vanguri said. "We were excited to see people from different backgrounds."
