Bart Crow hopes Commerce stop is step to stardom
The Bart Crow Band will be playing at the Drunken Mule in Commerce this Saturday, April 21.
Fronted by lead vocalist and guitar player Bart Crow, the Bart Crow Band is a country music band of regional fame. Based out of Austin, they tour throughout the West, Midwest and Southwest areas of the country performing in cities of all sizes, from Commerce to as large as Dallas.
"I started playing music and everyone else played in other bands, and their situations changed and we all just kind of got to know each other playing shows and touring," Crow said. "We just decided to hook up and see where it went, and it works."
The band - while respecting the contributions to the industry of other bands that came before them - is mainly concerned with just being themselves and playing their own music.
"We just try to be ourselves, be original," Crow said. "We just try to write the best music that we can and play the best that we can. There's a lot of great songwriters that came before us that I definitely find inspiration from and look up to and look at what they've done, but we mainly just try to be ourselves."
Right now, as Crow explains, the band is still mainly a regional band building up its popularity.
"We haven't gotten to a national level yet," Crow said. "We basically play Texas and up through the Midwest. We have a pretty good fan base and people seem to give us a lot of support."
Although they have not achieved national fame yet, that is the key goal.
"Any way that we can to broaden our horizons and try to get out and see the world and take our music to bigger, broader bases, absolutely," Crow said.
The band will make another stop in Commerce this Saturday, April 21 at the Drunken Mule Saloon on the square.
"We play hard, we have a good time, and we love coming to Commerce," Crow said. "We hope a lot of people come out to see us, and we just want to continue growing our fan base."
