"Girls Gone Wild" to come to Commerce

Representatives of the video company "Girls Gone Wild" will be hosting an event on Thursday, April 1 at The Rail in Commerce.

The event is known as a "foam party," where machines will generate foam bubbles on the dance floor of the club. In some foam parties, the foam can rise as high as four to five feet.

"It sounded like something unique for us to do," manager of The Rail Shan Milhon said. "We're always doing interesting stuff."

According to Milhon, representatives of Girls Gone Wild contacted him recently about the possibility of one of the group's tours coming through Commerce.

"Their buses run all over, a lot like a touring band," Milhon said. "It sounded like a great marketing opportunity for us."

Messages to representatives of Girls Gone Wild were not returned at press time.

Milhon said he is aware of the opinions people may have over the Girls Gone Wild company, which sells adult-themed videos depicting young adult women in sexual situations, but does not think the reaction will hurt his business.

"The people [the event] is going to offend aren't going to come here anyway," Milhon said. "The people that are going to be judgmental are the people that think we shouldn't serve alcohol in Commerce in the first place. All [this event] does is spark an interest in the club."

Milhon said The Rail will use the same security measures that it uses for other events, which include a wrist bracelet system used to identify which patrons are of legal drinking age and security at each entrance to check identification of each person wishing to enter the club.

"We control things very well here," Milhon said. "We run a tight ship, and people know we run a tight ship. We don't put up with BS here."

Milhon is not sure what made the company choose Commerce as a destination, but said he intends to use the company's promotional tools to help drive interest to The Rail, which has recently come under new ownership. In the future, the bar plans to host several new events, including volleyball tournaments and an expansion of the bar's restaurant menu.

"In a college town, the classes keep changing and new people come in," Milhon said. "We can't keep doing the same things over and over."
