Spend 3 weeks in Istanbul, Turkey. Earn 3 credits taking Islam in Global Politics with class trips which may include a guided tour of the Suleymaniye Mosque complex and historic neighborhood including the Grand Bazaar and Byzantine Monastery and a tour of the Eyup neighborhood, a place of worship since Roman times with an open air museum showing examples of modern day Muslim religious offerings, music and devotional practices. Visit Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire, and explore early Ottoman Mosques, theological schools and a shopping complex with local silk weaving and pottery, kebabs and pastry available. Lunch at a traditional restaurant is also a highlight. AIFS is recognized as a premier provider of study abroad programs.
